The Chica Pelega Film Festival — The Contestado in Focus drew 1,073 viewers across 41 sessions in its Videira edition, held between October 8 and 21, 2024, with the participation of 12 schools and more than 500 students.
The programme was divided into three fronts: Children’s Week, the Contestado Showcase in the cinema room of the Euclides da Cunha Library, and cinema taken to the neighborhoods. In the evenings, features and documentaries — such as A Guerra dos Pelados, by Sylvio Back, and Terra Cabocla, by Márcia Paraíso — were followed by discussions.
The discussion circles were moderated by figures connected to the Contestado and Caboclo culture, such as Diego Ahmod, Elias de Lima, Arthur Peixer, Flavia Grutzman and Alzira Scapin. The event was made possible with funding from the Paulo Gustavo Law, through the Videira City Hall. See the full programme.
