From October 19 to 21, 2024, the Chica Pelega Film Festival took cinema beyond the theater: with an inflatable screen and an open-air setup, it screened films free of charge in Videira’s neighborhoods, bringing the stories of the Contestado closer to the communities.
The sessions passed through the Community Pavilion, in Santa Tereza, the Pastoral da Criança House, in the Oficina neighborhood (Pedreirinha), the EEB Padre Bruno Pokolm, in Vila Verde, and the little field in the Amarante neighborhood.
The programme in the neighborhoods featured shorts about the Contestado and quilombola themes — such as Para não esquecer a guerra, Disque quilombola, Vila Usina and Baile — always followed by a conversation with the audience. See the full programme.
