If you have already browsed the Chica Festival’s programme and film list, you must have seen the “Fazer quilombola” category, which contains three very short films from 2023, all from Santa Catarina. These three films, which premiered in this edition of the festival, were produced between May and June of this year through the “O minuto que foi” workshop in the remaining quilombola communities of Invernada dos Negros and Campo dos Poli. They were two weekends and a few hours later during which the participants watched examples of audiovisual productions and shared ideas collectively for the production of their films.
We prepared making-of videos of each community; see how it went:
“Fazer quilombola” (doing it the quilombola way) in this title represents both the way of making culture, of telling stories, and also of making cinema.
The three films resulting from the workshops, held as counterparts of the Festival, will be available until July 31, to watch for free on Pupilo, together with 25 other films that also dialogue with different Brazilian quilombola perspectives and contexts.
