We have been working on the 3rd edition of the Festival since the beginning of the year, and in March we visited the Campo dos Poli and Invernada dos Negros quilombola communities, in the municipalities of Fraiburgo, Campos Novos and Monte Carlo.
We traveled through the communities carrying out technical visits to the spaces that will host the screenings and workshops and, above all, getting to know some families and talking about the context and history of each one. The stories about ways of life, about how the traditional houses were built, about quilombola cuisine, about the plants, types of trees and spaces occupied and left behind by the people. Stories of the culture and of the struggle for the demarcation of the lands, also laden with racism and very few reparations so far.
Today we share some images of this stage of building the Festival.
We thank Alessandro, Cris, Edson Camargo and Jilson Carlos Souza, who accompanied us during the visit, and also those who welcomed us to chat and sort out the details of the 3rd Chica Pelega Film Festival – quilombola edition.
