Between June 5 and 14, 2024, the Chica Pelega Cinema Circuit – quilombola edition toured six cities in the West and Highlands of Santa Catarina — Caçador, Videira, Joaçaba, Concórdia, Chapecó and Irani — bringing quilombola cinema to 14 schools and cultural spaces, with 1,787 viewers. The circuit was carried out with funds from the Catarinense Cinema Award – Special Paulo Gustavo Law Edition/2023.
In the mornings and afternoons, school sessions brought students closer to the quilombola and Indigenous cultures of the region; in the evenings, the open sessions gathered the community around debates with researchers and leaders.

What was on the screens
The programme brought together works on quilombola and Indigenous resistance — from Disque Quilombola, Vãnh gõ tõ Laklãnõ, Antonieta and Pele Negra, Justiça Branca to Invernada dos negros – fotografia e vídeo — and the three shorts born from the “O minuto que foi” workshop, made in the Invernada dos Negros and Campo dos Poli communities.
