In the region of Seara, in western Santa Catarina, the heirs of the “stubborn chief” João Maria Rodrigues fight for the lands of TOLDO PINHAL, once occupied by their people and seized by the colonizing front in the 1950s and 1960s. The articulation among various indigenous lands and the valuing of the original peoples’ culture has strengthened the movement. This video was made to broaden the regional population’s understanding of indigenous rights.
